Dr. McCarty, owner of Millersburg Veterinary Hospital

A Message from Dr. McCarty

Welcome to the Millersburg Veterinary Hospital website, and welcome to the Millersburg Veterinary Hospital! My staff and I are dedicated to providing the best care possible for your pet in a family-friendly environment.

I graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and came to Millersburg in 1984, practicing out of my home. In 2004 the practice was moved to its current location in Millersburg on Route J, 4 miles south of I-70.  The building was an historic schoolhouse where some of my clients had attended school.  They have proudly shown me where their desks were. Some of my clients attended school here and can even point to where their desks used to be.  It has been remodeled into a full-service facility, offering wellness programs, diagnostics, medicine, surgery, radiology, laboratory services, dental care, hospitalization and referrals. I welcome your inquiries and invite you to stop in and say “Hi!”

Services Offered

We care for dogs and cats. Depending on the situation, we occasionally see rabbits, pocket pets, and some exotics. If we believe your needs exceed our expertise, we will refer you to a practice better suited to help you.

Payments

Millersburg Veterinary Hospital, LLC accepts payment via cash, check, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, American Express or CareCredit. Payment must be made at the time services are rendered. We do not bill nor defer payments. If an animal needs to be hospitalized on an emergency, the emergency fee and hospitalization deposit must be paid at the initial visit.

We can provide a treatment plan for all surgeries and hospitalizations. This will give you an estimate of the charges most likely to be incurred. You may request a treatment plan at any time for your expected charges.

In 2004 the practice moved to the newly remodeled historic schoolhouse located in Millersburg on Route J. Some of my clients attended school here and point to where their desks used to be. In 2016 I completed the Small Business Academy course, sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension and the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce.

I love learning and am a long-standing member of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practice, which requires a higher level of continuing education than required for licensing.
In December of 2018, I took a Zookeepers’ Safari in Kenya. It was an amazing experience – a chance to see so many incredible animals on their home turf.

Millersburg Veterinary Hospital is a full-service facility, offering wellness programs, medicine, diagnostics, surgery, radiology, laboratory services, dental care, hospitalization, laser therapy and referrals. I welcome your inquiries and invite you to stop in and say “Hi!”

She worked at the University for 22 years as a registered veterinary technician in the equine clinic. Her primary responsibility was equine anesthesia. Dr. McCarty has taken care of Ann’s cats since she moved to the Millersburg area in 1998. Allison

Allison

Front Office

Allison has worked for Dr. McCarty for 18 years. For her, Millersburg Veterinary Hospital is a place where she can step away from being a stay-at-home Mom (who spends all her time schlepping kids, volunteering at school, coaching and attending her kids sporting events) to use her customer service skills to book appointments for the clinic. For Allison, working at Millersburg Veterinary Hospital has been a blessing and gives her “her own thing” separate from being a mom. Allison is married to Jesse and has three kids, Maddie, Eli & Finn. She has two kitties, Simba and Sweetie and her daughter Maddie has a 3-year-old neurotic Corgi named Rosie who barks 24 hours a day and gets mad whenever you try to Windex anything or talk to people on the phone. Allison has remained loyal to Millersburg Veterinary Hospital for so many years because Dr. McCarty has modeled that loyalty in her fastidious commitment to her clients, their animals and the Millersburg Community as a whole.

Missy

Missy

Veterinary Assistant

Missy comes from the midst of Georgia. Growing up, she was by her mother’s side working against animal cruelty. This brought animals of all kinds into her home to care for, which is probably why she can’t turn a stray away… her husband loves it. From caring for her patients at Millersburg Veterinary Hospital to jumping into surgery with Dr. McCarty, she’s up for anything and enjoys her job immensely. Missy was one class away from an associate nursing degree from Columbia College when she felt a new calling to help animals. She is currently enrolled in Moberly Area Community College and will graduate as a Registered Veterinary Technician. When Missy isn’t at work you can find her reading, writing, (Missy is a published author of over 30 books), hiking, boating, and gardening with her three girls and their family dogs Wick, a Doberman, Lagertha, an English bulldog, Mocha, a Cocker Spaniel, and Forest, A French Bulldog. They also share their home with 7 cats, a turtle, a gecko, and a tarantula.

Neely

Neely

Veterinary Assistant

Neely is from New Melle, Missouri but currently resides in Columbia and is attending Mizzou. She is studying agricultural and animal science to one day pursue a career in food animal veterinary medicine. When she’s not in school or at the vet clinic you will find her surrounded by animals. Whether that be milking cows at the University’s dairy farm, or raising her own turkeys and ducks, she is never too far away from an animal! Aside from her love for school and animals, Neely spends her weekends outdoors hunting, fishing, or enjoying a day at the lake!
