With our mission to provide the best care possible in a family-friendly environment, our team welcomes you to Millersburg Veterinary Hospital!

Everyone at Millersburg Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing outstanding care for your pet in a comfortable, friendly environment.

Susan McCarty, D.V.M.

Veterinarian practicing over 35 years.

My staff and I are dedicated to providing the best care possible for your pet in a family-friendly environment.

I graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and came to Millersburg in 1984, practicing out of my home. In 2016 I completed the Small Business Academy course, sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension and the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2004 the practice moved to the newly remodeled historic school house located just north of Millersburg on Route J. Some of my clients attended school here, and can even point to where their desks used to be.

I love learning and am a long-standing member of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practice, which requires a higher level of continuing education than required for licensing.

In December of 2018, I took a Zookeepers' Safari in Kenya.  It was an amazing experience - a chance to see so many incredible animals on their home turf.

Millersburg Veterinary Hospital is a full service facility, offering wellness programs, diagnostics, surgery, radiology, dental care, hospitalization and referrals. I welcome your inquiries and invite you to stop in and say “Hi!”

Office Staff

Rebekah

A native of Columbia, Rebekah comes from an agricultural-based family raising cattle and hogs. Animals have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. Rebekah was very active in the Harg Hustlers 4-H Club and the Columbia FFA Chapter where she participated in raising and showing cattle, pigs, and horses. She graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1998 and then attended Northwest Missouri State University and Moberly Area Community College, studying Animal Science.

Rebekah is active in her community providing in-home pet sitting and farm sitting services. She enjoys outdoor activities, especially camping, fishing, hiking and photography.  Her loyal companion is Serenity, a terrier-mix registered service dog.  Rebekah likes Mizzou sporting events, local rodeos, and just hanging out with her nieces and nephew.

Rebekah joined Millersburg Veterinary Hospital in September 2012. She is accomplished at office and front desk, as well as assisting the doctors. She truly loves working with the animals and meeting new people and their four legged family members.

Allison

Connecticut born and raised, Allison came to Mizzou at 17 and graduated with a degree in Art History. She moved to Millersburg a few years later, married, and started a family. Allison has three children: Maddie, Eli, and Finn, and enjoys staying home with them while working at Millersburg Veterinary Hospital. “Spending time with our clients and their beloved animals helps to restore my sanity after being with only children all day.” Allison’s family shares their home with six animals: Jack their loyal lab mix, Forrest the adopted bird who whistles “The Andy Griffith Show Song”, Belle a grumpy calico, two inherited kitties, Simba and Callie, and their newest addition, Sweetie, an outside cat who Allison’s husband hoped would kill moles and mice, but spends most of her time napping in her heated cat house. ” I have no time for hobbies, but enjoy traveling when the children are out of school.”

Reception

Sherry

Sherry previously worked in Human Resources for a well-known beverage company before joining Millersburg Veterinary Hospital. She and her husband recently downsized their farm from cows, chickens, cats, pygmy goats and horses to just 3 dogs and 2 birds. She is looking forward to doing a lot more traveling. She raised two boys and her youngest son is now a Pharmacist working at a large University Hospital as a mental health specialist and educator. She is one proud mom!

Her favorite pastimes are traveling, camping, crafting, singing and playing with her pups.

Penny

Penny has lived everywhere! Born in California and raised in Florida, she decided to settle down in Central Missouri to be closer to family. She has raised 3 kids and has a beautiful granddaughter. She spends much of her spare time with family and taking care of her pets – 2 dogs, a cat, and a rabbit. The newest addition to her clan is a Great Dane named Ruger and he is quickly outgrowing the house!

Penny enjoys working at Millersburg Veterinary Hospital because she loves animals and the clinic is so close to home. In her spare time she plays with her granddaughter and is a Circut crafter – she has created lots of signs and displays to keep the clinic organized.

Nikki

Nikki moved to the Millersburg area in 2016 to be closer to family. She and her husband built a little cabin in the woods where she is mostly a stay-at-home mom to her two little girls, Wylie and Mackey.

Nikki and her husband love to be outdoors and have passed that down to their girls by spending most weekends away camping or building bonfires and camping in their backyard.

Nikki has rescued many, many animals over the years including rabbits, birds, and squirrels. She has always had pets and currently has 3 cats, Chewy, Beans, and Rice. Oh yeah, and 4 guineas that are great watchdogs, however, very loud and obnoxious.

Prior to having children, she previously worked as a CNA and a Direct Support Staff providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a child, so she was quite excited to become a part-time Vet Tech and join the Millersburg Veterinary Hospital team.

Kendalyn

Kendalyn has lived and grown up in Millersburg. She is currently a student at Mizzou, majoring in Health Sciences. She played college softball for two years at Cottey College, before moving back home to go to Mizzou. She has three dogs, Bella, Gunner and Waylen. They spend much of their time outside and playing with their toys, but also love to take naps. In her spare time, Kendalyn is growing a chicken farm. She has always loved animals and loved caring for them. Working at the Millersburg Veterinary office as a technician and a receptionist has become a wonderful new job!

Grooming

Tori

Tori grew up on a farm outside of Shamrock with cattle, horses, and, of course, cats and dogs. Here she learned the value of a hard days work and developed a passion for animals.

Currently, she and her husband live in the country with three dogs: Apollo the German Shepherd, Zoey a Labrador Retriever mix, and Holly a Golden Retriever mix. They are their 4-legged kids and they enjoy tossing tennis balls, ropes, or just hanging out on the couch with them.
